Ralphs Moss Wall

Bryophyte’s never cease to amaze me. Visited the Ralphs off Hawthorne Blvd. and Crest Rd. and discovered that one of the stone walls (made out of Palos Verdes stone a.k.a Altamira Shale) has been colonized by a few species of moss. From a distance, it is hard to tell that moss is growing throughout the rock wall. But once you get up close, you find that there are loads of mosses in the cracks and spaces between the stones! It was absolutely awesome and worth checking out after a good rain!
